Learn data structures by building something that needs one
“I learned these subjects all isolated from real world problems or projects, so till this day, I haven’t built anything useful with these technologies yet. So naturally forgot these subjects until the day I’d need them, if that happens.”
Reddit user · r/learnprogramming
DSA is taught in isolation. So it never gets used. So it’s forgotten.

How I actually built it
- I designed the pedagogy.
- Wrote most of the implementation.
- Used Claude Code and Codex to polish it up.
- Reviewed and decided what shipped and what came next with the help of my agents.

THE PROBLEM
Streaming made discovery infinite — and place irrelevant.
For fans
Algorithms return more of what you already know. What actually gets you closer to the artist — where the song was written, the coffee shop they first played, the restaurant they still swear by — isn't on any streaming service.
For artists
A 500-follower artist has no mechanism to be discovered by someone standing three blocks from where they recorded.
For places
The places that shape the music — the 90-seat clubs, the barbershops, the corners, the neighborhoods artists come up through — have no plaques. When they disappear, the history goes with them.
The places that made the music have no plaques. GROUNDSCORE solves the need for plaques.

THE SOLUTION
Three data layers nobody else combines.
LAYER 01
What you
listen to
listen to
Streaming library import. Spotify and Apple Music live; Tidal and SoundCloud code-complete.
LAYER 02
Where artists
are from
are from
Verified hometown and career locations at neighborhood precision, from 8 independent sources.
LAYER 03
Where their
journey happened
journey happened
The places that molded them and the spots they love in their city — from published interviews and direct artist submissions. These places get washed out of history — we turn streams and follows into foot traffic that keeps them alive.
Spotify does genre. Google Maps does geography. Yelp does opinions.
GROUNDSCORE is the intersection — and it only exists because someone built the dataset by hand.

HOW I BUILT IT
An idea since 2017. Rebuilt from scratch in under a year.
Revived September 3, 2025 with a business plan, an old rough draft, and a fresh start — vibe-coded end to end, nights and weekends.
One person, one machine
Tons of research. ChatGPT for the roadmap, then Claude as the build partner — the app, the pipeline, the admin tooling, written in conversation with AI inside VS Code.
React Native
One codebase, iOS and Android.
Supabase
Database, auth, and storage — no server team.
AI verification agent
Consults up to 8 independent sources per artist and records its reasoning.
Human moderation loop
Every recommendation reviewed by a person before users see it; corrections retrain the agent.
Research APIs
Started with Tavily — now a stack of multiple research engines working together.
STRAIGHT FROM THE ARTIST
